US President Joe Biden is asking the US Congress to provide Ukraine with $ 33 billion worth of military and humanitarian aid in its war on Russia. Biden said the approval of this request by lawmakers is “critical.”

The plan includes $ 20 billion in military aid, $ 8.5 billion in economic aid and $ 3 billion in humanitarian aid.

Biden made it clear that he was aware that what he was asking for was “not cheap,” and stressed that the United States could not stand aside, but at the same time claimed that his country was not attacking Russia.

In addition to direct assistance, the White House submitted a proposal to facilitate the sale of assets of Russian oligarchs, and transfer the profits to Ukraine.

All of these proposals constitute a significant increase in American aid to Ukraine in the war that began two months ago.

The first offer of funding that Biden requested, when the war began, was approved last month, and was worth “only” $ 14 billion. Last week, Biden added another $ 800 million package in military aid and $ 500 million in economic aid.

On Tuesday, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin praised the countries of the world for the great assistance they provided to Ukraine, stressing that “we do not have time to waste.”

“The work we have done together has brought about a significant change. Ukrainian President Zalansky made this clear when we met in Kiev on Sunday,” Austin said. “Countries around the world have volunteered to help Ukraine’s immediate needs.”

At a conference of dozens of countries in Germany, Austin said: “I know that all language leaders today are more determined than ever to support Ukraine in its war against Russian aggression and the atrocities it is committing. And I know we are committed to coordinating our joint efforts.” Austin added that the leaders would meet monthly to coordinate Ukraine’s strategy.
