Liberation war organizer, former member of Parliament, former president of Sunamganj district BNP, leader of Bhasan water movement Nazir Hossain is no more (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun).

He died on Wednesday (March 28) at 2:10 pm at the Ahsania Mission Cancer Hospital in Abdullahpur of the capital. He was 74 years old.

BNP press wing member Shayrul Kabir Khan confirmed the news of his death.

Shayrul said Nazir Hossain was suffering from cancer for a long time. He is survived by his wife and one son. On behalf of BNP and the family of the deceased, prayers have been requested from the countrymen for the repose of his soul.

Nazir Hossain’s village home is in Shahpur village of Fatehpur union of Vishwambharpur upazila of Sunamganj. This once popular leftist leader has led many movements of the Howar people in the front line. He started politics from the left-wing Communist Party. Later he joined BNP.

He was a successful teacher, politician, opened customs station in Tahirpur upazila and provided employment opportunities to lakhs of people. He was suffering from various ailments due to old age for a long time. He was known as ‘Nazir Bhai’ in Haoran area.
