Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain said that 356 proposals have been received from the Deputy Commissioners and Divisional Commissioners for the DC conference.

He gave this information at a press conference organized on Saturday (March 2) afternoon at the secretariat regarding the overall preparation of the Deputy Commissioner Conference-2024.

Md. Mahbub Hossain said that in the proposals received, priority has been given to increasing public services, reducing public suffering, building roads and bridges, developing tourism, amending laws and regulations, and protecting public interest. Most of the proposals are related to road transport and highways departments. There are 22 total proposals in this regard.

The four-day Deputy Commissioner (DC) conference will begin on Sunday (March 3). Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the conference at Shapla Hall of the Prime Minister’s Office at 10:30 am. Like last year, the main venue of the Deputy Commissioner Conference is Osmani Smriti Auditorium in the capital. This time the DC conference will end on March 6 (Wednesday).

DC conference is organized every year for face-to-face exchange and necessary guidance between the policy makers of the government and district administrators.

The Cabinet Secretary knows that there will be 30 sessions in the DC conference this time. Among them 25 working sessions with various ministries and departments. There will be an inauguration ceremony, one with a courtesy call on the Speaker and two sessions with a courtesy call on the Chief Justice, receiving of instructions and other formalities. Ministers/Advisors/Ministers of State/Senior Secretaries/Secretaries of concerned Ministries/Departments will attend the working sessions.

A total of 56 ministries, departments and organizations and the Prime Minister’s Office will participate in the conference this time. The Cabinet Secretary said that although there was a session with the President in other years, it was not held this time as the President was abroad.
