The Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia recognized the Latvian and Dutch branches of the Dozhd TV channel as undesirable organizations for the country.
“A decision has been made to recognize the activities of foreign organizations SIA TV Rain, Latvia and TVR Studios BV, the Netherlands as undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation,” the agency said.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the organizations were created by “foreign journalist Natalya Sindeyeva, who has Russian citizenship (recognized as a foreign agent), after the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office and Roskomnadzor took measures to restrict access to the website, TV channel and pages on social networks in relation to the Russian TV Channel Rain LLC for systematic violations of laws on the media and information,” Interfax writes.
After leaving Russia, Dozhd opened an office in Latvia, but after the broadcasting license was revoked, he moved to the Netherlands.
