The Kuwaiti Parliament was dissolved by order of the Emir. The Kuwaiti Parliament, ‘Majlis Al Umma’, was dissolved immediately after the swearing in of the new cabinet members. Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Aswabah’s call to elect new members of parliament through general elections

Last November, Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Aswabah transferred some of his constitutional powers to Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Aswabah. Using this power, the Crown Prince issued an order to dissolve Parliament.

The notification cites the reason for dissolving Parliament as the current political situation is vitiated by disunity, non-cooperation, differences and conflicts. Last April, Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al Hamad Assabah resigned after 26 MPs gave a notice for criminal investigation.
