The common willingness to cooperate in matters concerning people with disabilities was highlighted during a meeting of the mayor of Ioannina, Thomas Bega, with the president of the Regional Federation of Disabled Persons of Epirus and North Ionian Islands, Maria Skandali, the vice-president, Spyros Zoumboulidis, and the president of the electoral committee, Lula Verbi.

On behalf of the Federation, a series of issues were raised, in which the municipality can help, and it was agreed to send an official written letter with the problems it has identified and which belong to its responsibilities and the geographical boundaries of the municipality of Ioannito.
The mayor, for his part, after emphasizing that the municipal authority is particularly aware of the problems of fellow citizens who face disability issues, underlined that he will be helpful in every initiative of the Federation, putting accessibility issues high on the agenda of the municipality.
“We had a first meeting with the Federation of Persons with Disabilities of Epirus and North Ionian Islands, during which we agreed that together we must prioritize the needs that exist, so that, within the framework of the responsibilities and financial capabilities of our municipality, we can do everything ,what is in our power to alleviate the problems of exclusion faced by our fellow citizens with disabilities. Accessibility is a fundamental right, which must be ensured for every human being.
We must work collectively to ensure that every citizen, regardless of their physical disabilities, can access every aspect of our community life. Only through cooperation can we create a better and more accessible future for all of us”, said Mr. Begas after the end of the meeting.
