Fortunately, the Tourism Protection Group of the Metropolitan Police learned of the alleged scam. And in a quick action he intercepted the vehicle and its driver and recovered the money to return it to its owners.

“When taking an InDriver from the airport to the Historic Center, the two foreign tourists were victims of an exorbitant fee of $500,000 pesos. Immediately, we began the search and tracking of the vehicle, a gray Renault Logan with GZV-874 license plates, which was located near the airport. Thanks to our intervention, all the money was refunded to those affected,” the Metropolitan Police detailed in a statement.

Thanks to the intervention of the institution, the driver proceeded to return the amount charged to the foreign citizens, but not before apologizing for the dishonest act.

The authorities of La Heroica assured that they will continue working in an articulated manner to ensure that Cartagena is a safe place for its visitors, for which they will strengthen the controls and monitoring of this type of cases, which affect the image of the city both at the national level. as international.

For its part, the Mayor’s Office of Cartagena reiterated its message of zero tolerance towards scammers and those who intend to commit any type of abuse during this Holy Week.

“Yesterday a case of abuse of tourists was presented, through a driver from the InDriver platform. We managed with all the institutions: Ministry of the Interior, DATT and Tourism Police, to identify this driver and make him return the money. We send a message to all tourism service providers: we will not allow abuse to those who visit us during Holy Week,” Teresa Margarita Londoño Zurek, Secretary of Tourism of Cartagena.
