We weren’t very aggressive in pressing Famalicão’s defenders, the midfielders played very freely and Famalicão, without creating big opportunities, managed to win with a great goal. It’s fair and if there was a team to win, without a doubt it was Famalicão, for what they did», the coach began by saying.
«The 2nd half was completely different, mainly because of our attitude and the way we wanted to change the game, because of the duels we won, because we forced the opponent to withdraw their lines. They didn’t have as much time and space to circulate the ball, the changes improved the team, we played closer to Famalicão’s goal, we had several opportunities to change the score, we scored two goals, only one was worth it, and we even had a penalty shot. which was not noted. We were clearly the better team in the 2nd half, with many more opportunities. Famalicão also always tried to exploit our advance, there was one or another situation close to our goal, but in the 2nd half we deserved not only the draw… we deserved the goals we scored, which were two goals that should have counted, but in the end they only counted one. It’s our football. They say we can’t comment on certain things, but I have to mention it, because whoever scores two goals and ends up drawing is always painful and it’s always bad, not only for football, but for us, who were harmed”, he said.
Regarding the situation with Chiquinho, in the 79th minute, who complained about racist insults, the Farense coach said: «I didn’t notice anything at all. I’m far away, I sat on the bench, we were losing and I wanted the game to restart quickly. These are things that I have been dealing with for so many years in football and I don’t really understand if they exist, why, I don’t know if they existed. I don’t even want to comment on that. If there really was something like that, it must be penalized, of course. But you know São Luís, the people of Faro are respectful, good and like, they love football. Let’s not turn a case, which I don’t know if it existed, into a case that, perhaps you will highlight one more case, in my point of view, without much significance, than the case of our goal [anulado].
