Riyadh: Strict warning not to spread false propaganda about Kovid on social media. The home ministry has warned that strong action will be taken against those who do so. A fine of between one lakh riyals and 10 lakh riyals will be imposed for spreading rumors and false information about Kovid.

Or imprisonment for one to five years. Financial fines and imprisonment may also be imposed depending on the nature of the offense. The ministry said the fine would be doubled if the offense was repeated. The ministry said that spreading false information or speculation about Kovid would cause public concern and lead to a failure to take precautionary measures.
