This Monday morning (22nd), in front of the Bernardo Franco Baís Municipal School, where a 46-year-old lawyer was stabbed by a former student of the institution last Thursday (18th), municipal guards began a campaign warning about the importance of having security staff in public schools in Campo Grande so that students, parents and the community are protected.
According to the vice-president of SindGM/CG, Alberto da Costa, the purpose of the campaign “How much is the life of a student of the Municipal Network” worth is that more municipal guards are assigned to ensure the security of school units, but without affecting services patrol, traffic control, among other services provided by public servants.
“By maintaining the services already in place and calling guards on extra scales, we could solve the problem of insecurity in the public education network in Campo Grande”, explained Alberto. He also recalls that the guards undergo various training courses and points out that they have the necessary qualifications to curb and prevent acts of violence or vandalism during the school shift.
The union’s president, Hudson Bonfim, explained that the campaign will be carried out in several schools of the municipal network, to sensitize parents and teachers. “We want the support of the community so that we can, together, ask the Executive to make use of the extra scales, thus guaranteeing more safety for everyone who makes use of this teaching network”.
Attack – The lawyer was stabbed in the lumbar region as she dropped her son off at school. The author wore a State Education Network uniform and was apprehended and taken to the Deaij (Specialized Police Station for Childhood and Youth Assistance). With him, four knives and a sledgehammer were found.
The victim was sent to Santa Casa. The parents of the other students were desperate with the situation and went to pick up the children from school. Teams from the Military Police, the Municipal Civil Guard and the Fire Department were on site.
