New York seeks an ‘evil tsar’ to combat the plague of rats that ravages the city

The mayor of New York, Eric Adamsis looking for a leader in the city’s war against the wheeland wants someone “somewhat bloodthirsty” and committed to the “wholesale killing” of vermin.

Formally known as rodent mitigation managerthe new position will be paid between $120,000 and $170,000 a year and will report to the deputy mayor of operations.

“There is NOTHING I hate more than rats,” Adams said in a statement posted to Twitter on Thursday. “If you have the drive, determination and killer instinct to fight New York City’s relentless rat population, the job of your dreams awaits.”

The job description is full of rodent puns and anti-rat epithets. “As the leader of the ‘Rat Pack’, you will work with your colleagues from across the city government, traveling through the five burrows,” she has said.

Among the qualifications for the position are a “swashbuckling attitude, sly humor and a general aura of mischief,” as well as proficiency in Microsoft Word.

In his first year as mayor, Adams has stepped up his rhetoric against ratscalling for new approaches including shifting garbage collection times to nighttime hours as rat complaints from neighbors skyrocket.
