There is speculation about the 28-year-old’s future at FC Bayern. Before the international match against the Netherlands, Leroy Sané is asked about the situation – and says something meaningful.
Leroy Sané has been playing for FC Bayern Munich since 2020, celebrated three championships in a row with the “Reds” and also became club world champion in his first year. But the German international has not yet been able to impress in the long term during his time with the German record champions. Due to the 28-year-old’s changing ideas in the current season, a farewell to the Bavarian capital no longer seems out of the question. Because Sané’s current contract in Munich runs until 2025, if Bayern want to collect a transfer fee, Sané would have to leave in the summer or during the coming winter break.
So will Leroy Sané leave Bayern after this season? The DFB attacker, who is currently still suspended, answered questions before the German national team’s international match against the Netherlands – and caused a strange moment. Because Sané did not want to give a precise answer to the question about his future.
What happened? In an interview on RTL, Sané was asked: “Are you staying at Bayern Munich?” Sané responded with a laugh, then RTL reporter Felix Görner asked: “Say yes!” Sané then laughed again, then replied: “My family and I feel very, very comfortable. I have some goals with the club, definitely to win the Champions League. We are still there this season, we still want to do it .”
With a view to the 2025 Champions League final in Munich, Sané continued: “Next year we have another final at home, which is of course something big that I definitely want to experience.”
That sounds more like staying in Munich. But Sané didn’t want to say a clear “yes”.
