► In Ukraine, Cameron promises Zelensky continued military support
The Ukrainian president received the new head of British diplomacy David Cameron on Thursday, November 16, on a surprise visit to Ukraine for his first trip abroad since his appointment on Monday.
“It’s a huge honor to meet you”David Cameron told Volodymyr Zelensky, according to a video released by the Ukrainian presidency. “I wanted this to be my first visit, I admire the strength and determination of the Ukrainian people”he added.
“We will continue to provide you with the moral, diplomatic, economic, but above all military support that you need not only this year, and next year, but also for as long as it takes”assured the British minister.
► One dead in a new bombing of Kherson
Ukraine reported one death on Thursday in a new bombardment of the southern city of Kherson, capital of the eponymous region on the banks of the Dnieper where Ukrainian forces are trying to repel the Russian army.
“Since the morning, the Russian army has been striking the Korabelny district of Kherson”regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin said on Telegram, indicating that a 68-year-old man had died and that a 54-year-old woman was hospitalized after being injured by shrapnel in the forehead and thigh.

The Russian army has stepped up its assault on the disputed town of Avdiivka in eastern Ukraine in recent days, its mayor, Vitaly Barabach, said on Thursday.
The situation there “is very tense”the official said on Ukrainian television about this locality which had become the target of the main Russian offensive on the eastern front.
