Success without gluten: The Isabelle Patisserie chain only offers gluten-free baked goods. A café has now also opened in Frankfurt. Jacqueline Vogt reports how it tastes there.

MPeople with celiac disease don’t have it easy. Those who cannot tolerate the gluten contained in cereals must watch what they eat carefully, processed foods are often taboo. About one in 100 people in Germany is said to be affected by celiac disease, and countless others who do not suffer from the disease believe that it is healthier to eat as if they were.

There is a large market for gluten-free products, especially for bread and rolls, and also for cakes. A new restaurant in Frankfurt, the Café Isabella on the Neue Kräme, sells only gluten-free food. If you walk past it, you will first see that there are many brightly colored fruit tarts on the counter.
