Paris: The bag was stolen from a train at Gare du Nor station in Paris on Monday evening. The bag contained a computer and two USB memory sticks containing police security plans for the Paris Olympic Games. Police sources said on Tuesday that the bag belonged to an engineer of Paris City Hall. The engineer had kept the bag in the luggage compartment above his seat. Since their train was delayed, they decided to change trains, then they discovered the theft.

Police are investigating

The engineer said his work computer and two USB sticks contained sensitive data, particularly the municipal police’s plan to secure the Olympics. The investigation is being conducted by the Regional Transport Police. Paris City Hall was not immediately able to comment when contacted by AFP. Two thousand municipal police officers will be deployed during the Games, with a total of about 35,000 forces expected to be deployed each day for the Olympics, which begin on July 26.
