Asian stock markets are trading in a mostly positive trend today, after the publication of the consumer price index in Japan. The core index rose 4.3%, and inflation in Tokyo is approaching a 42-year high.

The Nikkei index in Tokyo traded unchanged, the Kospi jumped by 0.7% and the Hang Seng index in Hong Kong climbed by 0.5%. There is no trade in China today.

The trading day on Wall Street closed last night in a positive trend, after the gains strengthened in the last hour of trading. The Dow Jones index registered an increase of about 0.6%, the S&P 500 index rose by 1.1% and the Nasdaq climbed by about 1.8%.

Report season: Chipmaker Intel published its quarterly reports after trading. The company missed the forecasts, and reported revenues in the amount of 14 billion dollars in the last quarter. The profit per share was 10 cents. The stock fell 9.7% in late trading.
