International media reports that 44-year-old Marina Ovsyannikova, who was born in Ukraine, escaped from house arrest. This comes after Marina Ovsyannikova’s name appeared on Russia’s ‘wanted list’.

Marina Ovsyannikova gained world attention last March. Marina arrived in the studio with an anti-war poster during a popular late-night talk show on the Russian state-owned Channel One news channel. After the incident became news all over the world, the news of Marina’s arrest came out. The news of their arrest was released by the Russian media. However, the lawyers informed the media that there was no information about Marina after that. Russia has criminalized calling the Russian attack on Ukraine an invasion and spreading fake news that it is. Russia has arrested and imprisoned many people using this law. This is an offense punishable by up to 15 years in prison. Marina was also fined 30000 rubles.

Marina had protested in a similar manner in August. The protest was held up with posters accusing the Russian military of spreading fake news and calling Putin a murderer and Putin’s forces being fascists. After this one-man protest in the Kremlin, Marina was sentenced to house arrest. On Saturday, Marina’s first husband released the information that she escaped from house arrest with her 11-year-old daughter. After this, Marina’s name was included in the wanted list on Monday. The online wanted list has been published with Marina’s picture.
