The situation created as a result of the unleashing of not only an economic but also a political war against Russia by the collective West, with all its difficulties, also creates new opportunities for the states participating in the Eurasian integration, according to “Armenpress”, this was announced by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in Armenia. Ambassador Sergey Kopirkin, within the framework of the round table-discussion on “EEU opportunities and prospects after the collective West declared economic war on Russia”.

According to the ambassador, Russia has always opposed and is still opposed to the hegemony of any state or alliance in the world, but the Western partners, contrary to the position taken by Moscow, adopted such a political line today, as a result of which the current situation was formed.

“Not only economic, but also the general political war unleashed by the collective West against Russia is the catalyst for the changes that have long been brewing in the world and go against the American model of globalization and dollar dominance, which are creating long-term preconditions for very serious changes in the world’s political and economic in architecture. And in this regard, I would like to say that all this, along with the great difficulties for Russia and our partners, also creates new opportunities,” the Russian ambassador noted.

According to the diplomat, Russia understands very well that the sanctions imposed against it will also deal a serious blow to the allied states of the Eurasian region, and Russia’s policy of isolation will also be implemented towards other countries of the Eurasian Economic Union. But Russia hopes that the common interests of Eurasian partners, their economic interdependence will dictate the understanding that it is necessary to stay together and develop together.

“We proceed from the conviction that we will be able to overcome the current difficulties with joint efforts and become even stronger,” the ambassador emphasized.

Kopirkin considered the fact that the establishment and launch of the Eurasian Economic Union coincided with the application of the first Western sanctions against Russia in 2014 as very symbolic in this context. Later, the coronavirus pandemic began, with economic and other negative effects, but despite all the difficulties that the whole world faced, according to Kopirkin, the EAEU continued to develop and showed the effectiveness of the union, being in demand and recorded economic growth. indicators.

“The current sanctions are, of course, unprecedented in their scope, but at the same time it is also a good incentive to move forward, including increasing one’s own production. “I also believe that the current situation should encourage us to accelerate the convergence of the Eurasian Economic Union with China’s One Belt One Road initiative in the spirit of the great Eurasian partnership, which President Vladimir Putin spoke about,” the Russian ambassador said.

According to him, the expansion of the use of the national currencies of the member states, the replacement of imported products with local products should be among the important directions of integration interaction between those two large projects.

“In that sense, the industrial cooperation between our states is gaining special importance. According to the experts, in this matter, it is necessary to apply macroeconomic regulations by the governments, which will allow to respond promptly to emerging challenges and threats”, Sergey Kopirkin added.
