Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said that the Russian government will support the application of the Russian Football Union (RFU) to host the Futsal World Cup in the country, TASS reports.
“The government, represented by the Ministry of Sports, will support the application of the Russian Football Union to host the Futsal World Championship in the country, which I am sure will be organized at a high level,” he said.
Chernyshenko noted that Russia is ready to host more international competitions, for this there is all the necessary infrastructure, the expansion of which continues on behalf of the President of Russia.
As the agency notes, at the end of August, RFU President Alexander Dyukov announced that the organization is ready to take part in organizing the Futsal World Cup in Russia. The day before, during a meeting with the leadership of the parties that passed to the State Duma, President Vladimir Putin, in a conversation with the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Gennady Zyuganov, suggested that they consider holding another World Cup. In 2001, Russia hosted the European World Cup in this sport.
