It was six minutes after three in the morning on Wednesday, March 20, when Spring officially began in the northern hemisphere and there is a photograph that marks the moment.

An equinox occurs when the Sun is directly aligned with the equator, meaning that the northern and southern hemispheres experience an equal amount of daylight. And this is what photography more recently published by the European Space Agency (ESA) on the social network X (Twitter) highlights.

Recorded by the satellites of the intergovernmental organization EUMETSAT, the image of the globe was captured at 07:00.

“Today is the ‘vernal equinox’ and, for us here in the northern hemisphere, it marks the beginning of Spring, with daylight hours continuing until the summer solstice,” ESA wrote on X (Twitter), identifying EUMETSAT.

Spring usually arrives in the northern hemisphere between March 20th and 21st. and ends between June 20th and 21st, replaced by summer. In Portugal, The hottest season of the year is scheduled to arrive at 8:51 pm on June 20th.
