The United Nations announced that it will establish an “air bridge” between Haiti and the Dominican Republic to deliver aid to the country mired in a crisis that has become more severe since gangs took control of the capital, Port-au-Prince.

The United Nations Mission in Haiti said in a post on the X platform, “The United Nations in Haiti is working to establish an air bridge with the Dominican Republic in order to ensure the flow of aid and the movement of its crews.”
The mission explained that part of its employees accredited to Haiti will be temporarily transferred “abroad,” while in return it will bring in “crisis” crews trained to work in light of the current crisis situation.
This publication came shortly after the United Nations announced that it had decided to evacuate its “non-essential” employees from Haiti.
In light of the chaos into which the country has plunged due to gang violence, the international community is making unremitting efforts to form a transitional presidential council to assume power after Prime Minister Ariel Henry announced his resignation.
