The US Senate voted on Friday in favor of a temporary funding bill for federal institutions to avoid a government shutdown.

Senators approved the temporary funding measure by a vote of 77 to 13, giving lawmakers more time to pass appropriations bills over the next few weeks.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said through his account on the “X” platform: “I am happy to say that there will be no government shutdown on Friday with all its harmful effects on Americans,” adding that “the vote gives the opportunity to complete the appropriations bills in a way that does not lead to… Close the government and do not surrender to extremists.”

Earlier, the US House of Representatives approved the draft law, which has now been referred to President Joe Biden for ratification.

Last January, US President Joe Biden signed a law temporarily extending government funding, to avoid the closure, which threatens the continued work of the executive authorities and government departments in the country. The temporary decision was approved at that time by the US Senate and House of Representatives.

The document stipulates funding the work of the executive authority and government departments, until next March, and the temporary decision includes allocating funds to some federal departments until March 1, and to the remaining departments until March 8.
