Pretoria: Russia has blamed the West for the Ukraine war not ending.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who has visited South Africa, met and held talks with the country’s Foreign Minister Naleedi Bandar. Serhii Larov met with the press after the talks in Pretoria, the administrative capital of South Africa. As the war in Ukraine, which began on February 24 last year, is about to complete a year, journalists are questioning when it will end.
Responding to this, Sergey Larov said, “Russia offered to sign an agreement to end the war in March last year. We supported Ukraine’s demand for a negotiated end to the war. Both sides agreed to end the conflict.
However, the United States, Britain, and the European Union pressured Ukraine not to conclude the agreement immediately. Everyone knows this. Ukraine almost accepted the agreement. It was at this point that Ukraine and the West co-opted Russia. They stipulated that Russia would agree to accept any agreement. We continue to reject this.
US President Joe Biden has said he wants to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. If there is a real desire to end the war, Putin has also said that he is ready to negotiate.
