They are probably looking for a third prime minister besides Gabriel and Denkov, but are they? (Overview) – 2024-03-23 10:43:53

Asen Vassilev, who fell silent after the apology only to the woman, but not to the prime minister candidate, had a meeting with Boyko Borisov. They haven’t agreed on the cabinet yet

The car of the retired finance minister was involved in an accident on Trakia, no one was injured

The last ultimatum given by Boyko Borisov expired in complete silence on the issue of whether the rotating cabinet will be negotiated at all with the mandate of GERB. Friday was the deadline indicated by him to try again, as long as “Promyanata” and Asen Vassilev apologized.

And in the meantime, the resigned finance minister disappeared from the public space, even fellow party members wondered where he was for two days, MPs say. This came immediately after his appearance on bTV on Wednesday night, when he announced that he did not apologize to Maria Gabriel for being the “face of the mafia” as a candidate for prime minister – he could no longer be one. And only as a woman, if she was offended.

While Vassilev is in public silence, however, he met with Borisov.

The two talked in the parliament,
he learned “24 hours” from MPs from the opposition, with whom he bumped into.

It is not clear whether he formulated a different apology to the GERB leader. So far, however, no agreement has been reached to have a “Gabriel” government.

Otherwise, these days Vassilev “spoke” only on the social network X (formerly Twitter), where late on Thursday he responded to EPP chairman Manfred Weber. The occasion – the leader of the right in Europe wrote on Facebook that the EPP family firmly stands behind Gabriel and described the behavior of the PP and DB leaders as disturbing. And is it responsible to lie to the Bulgarian people with a cabinet in which 11 of the 19 ministers learned from television that they were proposed, Vassilev replied.

Then, the news of a chain accident on the Trakia highway this evening dispelled the rumors that the PP co-chairman had “disappeared”. Vassilev was a passenger in one of the three cars that collided, luckily – no one was injured.

It is Asen Vassilev who is the most adamant in the thesis that the talks on the first mandate – of GERB, have ended and we should think about a cabinet with the second – of PP. A hypothesis that Borisov and his deputies categorically rejected.

Is it then not possible for a third person, other than Maria Gabriel and Nikolay Denkov, to return the two formations to the table, ask some of the observers.

We must see if the broken can be mended,

whether she could be prime minister, whether to look for another prime minister from GERB

Support must be sought from both political forces. It is not one person or another that is important, but a government that will work.

These words, spoken by Nikolay Denkov from Brussels this morning, fueled a similar rumor that has been floating around for the last 2 days – that they might have tried a compromise with another figure. According to the academician, Gabriel made a “big political mistake” from which everyone must now look for a way out. He even wrote personally that “it is not done that way”.

However, there is no confirmation of such a scenario, especially since with a decree already submitted by the president, this would only be possible with the next mandate. And GERB will not support that of PP-DB.

What “The Change” has been thickly emphasizing lately is

“national” mandate
with the message that it does not matter whose it is because it is for the sake of national goals. That’s what they called theirs, with which the “Denkov” cabinet was elected.

It is important for us to create a government that is supported by both political forces with a mandate that is national. If it can’t be with the first, we’ll try the secondthe outgoing prime minister suggested in his Friday induction from Brussels.

This time, however, Denkov showed himself a lot

milder under the express condition of GERD –

without Asen Vassilev in the next cabinet. A day earlier she had claimed that he was the best finance minister and wanted to work with him. With the stipulation that he “does not cross anyone out”, Denkov has now clarified that he is ready for any “reasonable compromises that will lead to a working and stable government”.

These issues are being discussed together with the agreement, which also remained unfinished. This is the negotiation – when you have everything together in a set, Denkov further explained. But at the same time, he announced that Borisov hid from Kiril Petkov – he again tried in vain to contact him on Thursday.

Borisov was in the parliament today, but he preferred to remain silent.

“Behold, the door is open,”

was his only comment when asked if the door was still open to negotiations with PP-DB. But he used the expression literally – as he opened the door to the plenary hall to enter.

DPS leader Delyan Peevski, who the previous days called on the partners from the (non)coalition to come to an understanding and to have a government, also remained completely silent.

Rosen Zhelyazkov: And now I offer to your attention… And the deputies fell silent – will there be a vote for Gabriel? It turned out to be a joke, just giving them a break

PP-DB in anxious anticipation all day after a warning from Lena Borislavova

Dear colleagues, I will bring to your attention…

With this line, interrupted by a significant pause, Rosen Zhelyazkov put a lot of pressure on the deputies at 10 o’clock today. Because everyone, especially “Promyanata” and DB, were anxiously waiting to see if an extraordinary item would be included in the agenda to vote for Maria Gabriel as prime minister. The plenary hall was exceptionally full for a Friday.

The Speaker of the Parliament has the right to propose extraordinary points for the day. Therefore, at the moment when Zhelyazkov said: Dear colleagues, I will bring to your attention… the chosen ones froze.

It turned out that in an attempt to lighten the atmosphere in which the air could be cut with a knife, Zhelyazkov was joking with his colleagues. With a smile, demonstrating his typical sense of humor, he finished the sentence by announcing a one-hour break until the start of parliamentary control. And the hall heaved a sigh of relief, and many deputies burst into laughter.

The night before, Lena Borislavova, who is in the leadership of “Promyanata”, warned on bTV: “They are preparing another surprising move. Instead of negotiations, they will submit to the parliament a decision to elect Gabriel as Prime Minister. But without the structure and composition of the government”.

On the same day, “24 Chasa” asked several constitutionalists whether it is possible for the parliament to vote for only Gabriel as prime minister on Friday and whether there is a constitutional deadline to consider the decree submitted by the president proposing that she be elected prime minister.

There is no set deadline for the government to vote, but the vote for the prime minister and for the structure and composition of the cabinet have always been held on the same day, lawyers explain. They talk about a “reasonable period” in which the National Assembly must decide whether there will be a government – this may be 7 days, but not 3 months.
