Two soldiers died in an avalanche in South Ossetia

Two out of five Russian soldiers who were hit by an avalanche in South Ossetia died, TASS reports.

So, one died on the way to the hospital, said the regional Ministry of Health. The deputy head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the republic, Atsamaz Bestouts, said that another man was found without signs of life.

They are still looking for another soldier at the site of the avalanche. The two remaining were hospitalized with frostbite of the extremities. The condition of these patients is assessed as moderate, the source said.

Earlier today, the press service of the Southern Military District of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation reported that five local soldiers were caught in an avalanche on the southern side of the portal of the Transcaucasian Railway in South Ossetia. Later they said that two of them were found alive and sent to the hospital.
