Witnesses reportedly saw the moment the man set fire to the wooded area there
Fire took place in Parque da Lagoa Comprida, located in the Serraria region, in Aquidauana, a city 141 kilometers from Campo Grande, this Friday (6). Video sent by the channel Straight from the Streets shows part of the area already burned and the flames advancing through the forested area.
As found out by the Campo Grande News, Fire Department teams have been at the site, which has a very extensive forested area, since 11am. However, the city still has other fires scattered throughout the neighborhoods.
A 42-year-old mechanic, Paulo Sérgio, passed by the scene at around 12:50 pm and the flames were still high. According to him, some animals were running around due to the fire and a Fire Department team was at the scene.
The suspicion is that the fire was caused by a man, who has not yet been identified, who passed by the place. Witnesses would have seen the moment he walked along a trail and started the flames. The case is still being investigated.
