Since this morning, several collisions have occurred throughout Greater Montreal, but “there were no major injuries,” said Catherine Bernard, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ). Many lanes were closed.

Near Rigaud, on Highway 40, “there were multiple collisions involving dozens of vehicles,” says Catherine Bernard. On the side of Highway 20, near the town of Cedars, “a dozen cars and heavy goods vehicles” were involved in a pileup around 9 a.m., still according to the SQ.

On Twitter, the Minister of Transport, François Bonnardel, asked the population to be careful when traveling, “due to the difficult weather conditions in places”.

According to Environment Canada, the Greater Montreal area could receive up to 20 cm of snow on Friday. “The snow accumulates very quickly, thus deteriorating road conditions,” reads the alert posted on the website. However, the snow should decrease at the end of the day.

In addition, Highway 15 is closed between the exits leading to Matte and Taschereau boulevards, to Brossard and La Prairie.
