General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema was received by President Paul Kagame

Kigali – October 16, 2023 – As part of a working and friendship visit, the President of the Transition, President of the Republic, Head of State General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema was received today at the Urugwiro Presidential Palace by His Excellency Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda.
Bilateral relations on the Libreville-Kigali axis, the strengthening and revitalization of this cooperation between the two countries were at the center of the exchanges between the two Heads of State.
During the meeting, the two Presidents congratulated themselves on the excellence of the historic relations which unite Gabon and Rwanda. They indicated their desire to raise to a higher level the multifaceted cooperation existing in the fields of education, trade, economy, agriculture, and new technologies.
As a reminder, the two member countries of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) signed a memorandum of understanding in August 2022 aimed at promoting and developing priority economic sectors and investment cooperation.
After this tête-à-tête with his Rwandan counterpart, His Excellency General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema spoke with the Gabonese Community of Rwanda (CGR). Nearly 400 compatriots took part in the meeting in this friendly country and were informed about the mechanisms put in place by the CTRI for the restoration of the institutions of the Republic. The collective seized these moments to request from the Head of State the creation of diplomatic representation as well as better consideration of security aspects for the community.
In response to their major concerns, and in view of the number of Gabonese nationals estimated at 1,500 in Rwanda, the President of the Transition instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs to look as soon as possible at the opening of an embassy in Rwanda. Kigali. In addition, His Excellency General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema intends to resolve in the long term the question relating to the granting of scholarships requested by the Gabonese student community.
