Within the framework of the roadmap of actions prior to the repowering of the Miguel León Bermeo Basic Hospital in Chunchi, the technical meeting to advance the first agreement between the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) and the Autonomous Municipal Government of the canton was held.
Verónica Rosero, Undersecretary of Operations Management and Health Logistics together with Walter Narváez, mayor of the Chunchi canton, reviewed the milestones achieved to date, including the delivery of architectural studies by the Chunchi municipality.
“The contribution of the GAD is valuable in the processes of improvement of sanitary infrastructure,” said the National Undersecretary. This intervention will be carried out on the same grounds as the health facility. “It is expected to comply with the times and actions planned with the purpose of having a hospital in accordance with health regulations and the needs of the population of southern Chimborazo,” she added.
In the same way, Walter Narváez thanked the institution for the speed with the project that will allow “to have an appropriate hospital for Chunchi,” he said. In addition, he reported that the topographic survey and planimeter have been delivered so far; current state of architecture and engineering; soil study and basic service feasibility.
Along with these actions, the first level of care in Chunchi is strengthened; In this sense, the Type A Health Center, which functioned as a nested unit within the Hospital facilities, will be moved to another space managed and rehabilitated for better operation.
Likewise, for the improvement of comprehensive care at the Miguel León Bermeo hospital, this week 32 new officials will be integrated to guarantee access to the portfolio of services.
