Knight Week begins today – many bans on holding events!

Heroes’ Week begins today (Sunday) to commemorate the fallen heroes who fought for the rights of Tamils.

In this situation, the holding of Knight Week events is banned in many places in the North.

Accordingly, some police stations in the Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu and Vavuniya districts have sought permission from the courts to ban the holding of Heroes’ Week events.

Accordingly, the Kilinochchi District Magistrate’s Court has issued a restraining order against 51 persons in the Kilinochchi District for holding Heroes’ Remembrance Day events.

The court also issued a restraining order against holding Heroes’ Remembrance Day events in areas under the jurisdiction of Kopay and Jaffna police divisions.

In addition, a court has issued a restraining order on 47 people to hold Heroes’ Day commemoration events in the Mullaitivu district.

So far, a court has issued a restraining order on 23 persons for holding Heroes’ Day commemoration events in Mullaitivu and Mulliyawalai police divisions.

A restraining order has also been issued against 24 persons in Puthukkudiyiruppu, Ottuchuttan, Mankulam, Mallavi and Iron Kulam police divisions.

The Vavuniya court has also issued an injunction to 8 persons to observe Heroes’ Day.

It is worth mentioning that Heroes’ Week is celebrated annually from November 21st to 27th.
