The petitions of 6 candidates of recognized parties who have filed petitions from Tamil Nadu for the state assembly elections have been accepted.

The term of office of the members of the 6 State Councils elected from Tamil Nadu ends on 29th June. Nominations for the vacant posts ended yesterday. The state assembly today held a hearing on the petitions of the candidates. The petitions of DMK candidates Kalyana Sundaram, Giri Rajan, Rajeskumar, AIADMK candidates CV Shanmugam, Dharmar and Congress candidate P. Chidambaram were accepted.

The petitions of 7 independent candidates who were not proposed by the legislators were rejected. The last date for withdrawal of nominations has been announced as June 3. It has been decided that all the 6 candidates of the recognized parties will be selected without contest.
