Persimmon was called dangerous in the presence of one chronic disease

by time news

A natural winter dessert – persimmon – has long been loved by Russians. This is both a sweet delicacy without harm to the figure, and a source of “living vitamins” in the midst of winter (indeed, this fruit ripens abroad, when Russia has long been cold). There are legends about the miraculous properties of persimmon, but nutritionists and doctors still advise you to be more careful with it.

Persimmons are really low in calories, so it would be a great idea to replace them with a piece of cream cake or a handful of sweets. In addition, it is a source of antioxidants, that is, it helps the body maintain youth and fight inflammation, and the skin maintains a healthy appearance and be safe from the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation.

Also, persimmon contains a large amount of carotenoids and a number of useful minerals that strengthen the walls of blood vessels. Therefore, this fruit can be considered as one of the means of preventing cardiovascular diseases and, in particular, atherosclerosis. The vitamins A, C and also zinc included in its composition make it a good immunostimulant, supporting the body in the season of colds.

Women suffering from puffiness can rely on persimmon to combat this unpleasant feature of their body: the trace elements contained in persimmon have a diuretic effect. It also contains potassium and magnesium, which are important for water and electrolyte balance.

But some people should not get carried away with persimmon and treat its use in food with caution. The fact is that, although persimmons are low in calories, they contain a lot of sugar, so those suffering from diabetes should be on the lookout, points out Harper’s Bazaar /

Persimmons are considered safe for those suffering from gastritis or ulcers, as they are low in acids and do not irritate the mucous membranes. But on the part of the gastrointestinal tract, persimmon lovers can theoretically also have problems. So, if you eat too many of these fruits at a time, you can … end up on the surgeon’s table.

Last winter, almost a news sensation was the story of a Muscovite sweet tooth who ended up in the hospital after a meal. The patient complaining of wild colic was examined and it was found that the diameter of her intestines in some parts reached 24 cm (with a norm of 3-6 cm). If the lady did not promptly seek help, she would be threatened with rupture of the intestines.

Asking the patient about her diet in recent days, the doctors found out that the lady watched her figure and tried to limit herself to sweets, replacing sweets with persimmon. But I got too carried away and ate as much as one and a half kilograms of these fruits at a time. The woman did not know about the peculiarity of this fruit: in the stomach, the pulp of the persimmon becomes like glue, envelops food and can cause intestinal obstruction. What happened to the unfortunate woman: the food she had eaten for several days accumulated inside, causing wild pain. Fortunately, her medical history ended well. Doctors performed an operation and, having treated the poor fellow, was discharged home, and also warned that persimmon is useful only in moderation.
