“A small step to Europe and a big step to the religious world”

Mizrahi said that the representatives of the Council of Rabbis of Europe “asked me to be the president of the rabbinical training program on behalf of the CER” and she sees the new position as “a small step for Europe and a big step for the religious world”.

When asked why the new plan is so dramatic, Mizrahi replied “because the activities of these women have never received any support, backing or title. People always tell me, ‘Rabbi is not a title, it’s just a rabbi’s wife,’ and after all, they are completely right. She really is the rabbi’s wife.” She added and said that people today wonder about the rabbis’ training and it’s a shame, since these are women who do holy work for their community.

Rabbi Yamima Mizrahi was born in Casablanca, studied at the Horev Academy and later studied law at the Hebrew University. She served as a lawyer and a rabbinical lawyer. In 2015, she founded with her husband the yeshiva “Evni Kodesh” in Moshav Aminadav for dropout youth. She began conducting Torah classes for women in 2001 and since 2017 she has been conducting a weekly program on Haan Moreshet and Haan B, in addition to regular slots on Friday mornings on Radio Kol Barma and on Wednesdays on Radio Kol Chai.
