Rosfinmonitoring has suppressed the financial activities of more than 15,000 terrorists, including 850 foreigners, said the head of the department Yuri Chikhanchin at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Recently, the financial activities of more than 15,000 terrorists have been suppressed, of which about 850 are foreign citizens. Today, almost 100% of the assets of persons related to terrorism are blocked, “Chikhanchin said (quoted by TASS).
He added that terrorists use currencies in computer games to transfer money. “Such a system as an in-game currency has gone, when they play some kind of shooter on the Internet, relatively speaking, instead of paying for a weapon, the terrorists are paid for the player,” Chikhanchin explained.
According to him, this is a serious problem. Rosfinmonitoring, together with the FSB, are building a model of terrorist behavior with calculation. Also a problem – lone terrorists who use new schemes to get money or finance themselves.
Earlier, Rosfinmonitoring developed a bill proposing to allow the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB to block bank accounts of Russians for 10 days without a court decision, if there is preliminary confirmed information on the use of the account for illegal drug trafficking, financing terrorism, extremism or organizing public events in violation of the established procedure.
