Semeru volcano erupts on Indonesian island of Java

On the morning of Sunday, December 4, the eruption of the Semeru volcano began on the Indonesian island of Java. According to media reports, the ash cloud has already risen to a height of about 15 km.

Local authorities urged the inhabitants of the island not to approach the volcano closer than 8 km.







Shortly after the first warnings of the eruption, the Javanese authorities raised the warning to the maximum level and began the evacuation of the population from the areas adjacent to the Seven.

At the end of November, a strong earthquake occurred in Java, which killed more than two hundred people, and over a thousand more received various injuries.
