A professor has been arrested and jailed for sexually harassing a college student in Srivilliputhur in Virudhunagar district.
Tenzing Balaiah, 45, of Attikulam near Srivilliputhur, is a professor of botany at a private college on the Sivakasi-Srivilliputhur main road. He also manages the National Student Corps (NCC) at the same college.
The student’s parents have lodged a complaint with the Srivilliputhur All Women Police Station alleging that he sexually harassed his student for several months. Professor Tenzing Balaiah has been arrested on that basis. Following his arrest, he was produced before the Srivilliputhur District Magistrate’s Court and remanded in custody for 15 days. The teacher was jailed based on the order.
