The initiative to introduce annual payments to pensioners by the New Year is a good idea, especially for non-working pensioners, said Vladimir Krugly, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy.
“I fully support this initiative. This will improve the mood of pensioners before the new year. You always want your pensions to be larger. This is very important for the elderly, ”Krugly said in an interview with RBC.
The initiative was also supported by the deputy head of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy Konstantin Dolgov. “Undoubtedly, an important task is to provide targeted, adequate support for pensioners, especially those in need,” he said, adding that “any additional steps must be effective and provided with budgetary funds.”
Earlier, the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs developed a bill proposing to introduce New Year’s payments for pensioners on a permanent basis. The author of the bill was the head of the committee, a deputy from the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia Yaroslav Nilov.
According to the document, working and non-working recipients of insurance pensions, state pensions and “military” pensions will be able to count on such payments. The amount of the payment is proposed to be equated to the amount of the received pension.
