Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that the government will give incentives to the export products produced from jute.

He said these things at a function organized on the occasion of National Jute Day at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital on Thursday (March 14).

The prime minister said that jute is a product whose demand is never ending. The resources of the country are very limited. So it should be used. The government will give incentives to export products made from jute. I will give recognition and incentives to eco-friendly agricultural and export oriented products.

‘After coming to power again in 2009, emphasis was placed on research on jute, due to which the mystery of the origin of jute was invented. A great opportunity has arisen for us to increase the production of jute and jute products; In discovering it. As a result, the importance of jute has increased. So steps are being taken keeping in mind all those aspects.’

The chief minister said that jute can be used for everything. The jute plant and its fibers and leaves are now used in many ways. Various products are being manufactured by combining jute and leather, which are also being exported abroad. Again, using jute shoelar to make furniture has reduced the dependence on trees. Jute’s bad times came, however, when synthetic fibers were invented. But people are aware now. Since jute is eco-friendly, work is being done on how to improve it.

The resources of the country are very limited. So it should be used. Jute was once exported to earn foreign currency. The best quality jute is produced in our country. It is called golden scale. It can contribute a lot to the economy. If jute is widely used in the country’s economy, foreign exchange earnings will also increase.

Sheikh Hasina said that jute can play an important role in diversifying export products by urging to increase the use of jute products. Jute has a lot of potential, that opportunity should be exploited.

Sheikh Hasina said, at one time the jute industry was being led to destruction, it was a very bad sign for us. The government did not end the jute mills, they revived the industry after privatization. In addition to the old mills, the production of versatile products should be increased by purchasing new machinery.

Urging the companies leasing the jute mills to bring in foreign investment, the head of government said that they should buy new machinery and produce more new products. Those who have leased jute mills will be under surveillance. Gold flakes will help build Sonar Bangla.

‘Once upon a time there was no marriage in the country without a jute saree. Now they are lost. The saree that I am wearing now is also made of jute. Promotion of jute products is required. At present, car interior liners like Mercedes Benz, BMW are made from jute. It can contribute a lot to the economy.’

The chief minister said many jute mills were unprofitable. I closed them and gave fair dues to the workers. I didn’t give full cash. I saved the family.

Prime Minister’s urge to find a new market for jute

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that the jute industry was led to destruction, which was not good at all. Jute mills have been modernized. New opportunities have been created for jute and jute industry by inventing the mystery for jute. The production of new products should be increased and markets should be sought.

The Prime Minister said, I have already invented the secret of the birth of jute. As a result, we have a great opportunity to increase jute production. The discovery increased the importance of jute. Keeping that in mind, I am taking steps today. Jute fiber has many uses. Jute fiber and leather products are being produced together. I can export them abroad.

Stating that opportunities have increased as jute is environment-friendly, the head of government said, we are looking at how the jute industry can be improved. We believe in continuing research on the one hand and producing better quality products from jute on the other. Our aim is to create various opportunities for those involved with PART.

‘The more we can increase the production of jute products, as it will be needed for domestic use, it will open a big door in the field of export. Aiming at that, finding new markets for jute, seeing what kind of product is in demand in any country, we have to focus on producing that kind of product.’

He said, if we want to increase our export products, jute and multi-purpose jute products can play that role. That opportunity must be created.

At this time, the Prime Minister announced the inauguration of 6 jute mills. Jute Minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak and President of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Jute Ministry Gazi Golam Dastgir along with government officials and stakeholders were present in the event.
