The Ministry of Science selects 15 Spanish and 15 foreign scientists to ‘attract’ talent

The Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, through the State Research Agency (AEI), has published the resolution granting the first call of the ATTRAE Programin which 15 Spanish and 15 foreign scientists have been selected to join the Spanish R&D&I system.

The program, to which 27.5 million euros have been allocated, has selected four scientists from Germany, four from Italy, three from France and one from Belgium, Holland, Portugal and the United Kingdom.

The Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Diana Morant, has highlighted that Atrae is the first national initiative to “attract scientists of international excellence to Spain and thus reinforce Spain’s competitiveness. »We want to attract the best talent because our country deserves to have leading and reliable science at the service of citizens«, she noted.

Each of the scientists will receive aid of up to one million euros to develop their line of research in Spain, buy equipment, hire staff and cover their salary. His contract will have an initial duration of three to four years with a commitment to stabilization by the entity that hosts him.

The Beneficiary Institutions that have registered for the Atrae Program come from Madrid, Catalonia, the Valencian Community, Andalusia, Galicia, Asturias, the Canary Islands and Castilla y León. Among them, the Carlos III University of Madrid, Complutense University of Madrid, University of Salamanca, University of Seville, Autonomous University of Barcelona, ​​University of Valencia, University of Oviedo, Pompeu Fabra University, Autonomous University of Madrid, Polytechnic University of Valencia stand out. , the State Agency of the Higher Scientific Research Council (CSIC), or the Carlos III National Cancer Research Center, among others.
