Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina held a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. At this time, the Prime Minister called for finding a way to stop the Russia-Ukraine war.

The meeting between the two leaders took place on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference (MSC) 2024 at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof on Saturday (February 17) morning.

After the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Hashan Mahmud said, ‘Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina always says that we are against all kinds of war. During the talks with Zelensky today, he repeatedly discussed how to stop the Russia-Ukraine war.

The foreign minister said that in the meeting they also discussed how to stop the attacks on innocent men and women in Gaza. The Prime Minister reminded everyone that war can bring no good to anyone.

Quoting the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister said, Sheikh Hasina said that others can benefit through war. But, it cannot bring welfare to warring countries and their people suffer from war.’

In this context, the Prime Minister recalled the sufferings of the people of Bangladesh during the liberation war in 1971 and the sufferings that he himself had suffered. Sheikh Hasina recalled the inhuman suffering of the Pakistani occupation forces during the war and the birth of her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.

The foreign minister said that Bangladesh’s foreign policy: ‘Friendship with all, enmity with none’ clearly emerged in the discussion between the Prime Minister and Zelensky.

In response to a question, Hasan Mahmud said that the friendly relations developed between Bangladesh and Russia during independence will not be damaged.

He said, ‘Our relationship with Russia is very good. Russia stood by us during the liberation war and played a leading role in the reconstruction of Bangladesh after the war.’

The foreign minister said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the President of Ukraine discussed only to stop the war.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in Munich on February 15 evening on a three-day official visit to attend the Munich Security Conference 2024. After the visit, the Prime Minister will leave Munich on Sunday night. He is scheduled to reach Dhaka on February 19.
