Tamil Nadu Rains: Northeast Monsoon is intense in Tamil Nadu. It has rained in most places in Tamil Nadu and Karaikal areas. Puducherry has reported very light rains.
The deep low pressure area that prevailed in Sri Lanka yesterday (25th December) today (26th December) is a low pressure area in Kumarikadal and adjoining areas. It is likely to move further west-northwestward and weaken further over southeast Arabian Sea.
Due to this,
December 26: Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur at many places over South Tamil Nadu districts and a few places over North Tamil Nadu districts, Puduwai and Karaikal.
Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Thenkasi, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari districts of Tamil Nadu received heavy rain at one or two places.
From December 27 to December 29, light to moderate rain may occur at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Puduwai and Karaikal.
Dry weather is likely to prevail over Tamil Nadu, Puduwai and Karaikal on December 30.
Chennai and its suburbs will remain partly cloudy for the next 24 hours. Light to moderate rain with thundershower at a few places over Chennai. The maximum temperature is around 30°C and the minimum temperature is around 24-25°C.

WARNING FOR FISHERMEN:
December 26 (Today): Cyclonic winds of 40 to 50 kmph with occasional gusts of 60 kmph may occur over Lakshadweep, Kerala coast and adjoining Southeast Arabian Sea, Southeast coast, Gulf of Mannar and Kumari Sea.
December 27: Cyclonic winds of 40 to 50 kmph with occasional gusts of 60 kmph are likely to occur over Lakshadweep and adjoining Kumari Sea, Kerala coast and adjoining Southeast Arabian Sea.
Fishermen are advised not to visit these areas on the above mentioned days.
