Ukraine: former president Poroshenko returned to Kiev – First Floor

(ANSA) – ROME, JANUARY 17 – Petro Poroshenko, the former Ukrainian president accused of high treason in his country, landed today in Kiev from Warsaw, as reported by TASS. Poroshenko, former head of state from 2014 to 2019, was welcomed by a thousand of his supporters. The former president is due to appear today before a district court that will decide whether to issue an arrest warrant against him. Poroshenko, who had left Ukraine in December, said he wanted to return to his country to help the government of current President Volodymyr Zelensky in the face of the risk of a Russian invasion.
