In the coming days, the names of another 73 persons missing in the First Karabakh War will be made public.

As Day.Az reported on Thursday, this was stated in an article published in the official newspaper by the head of the State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Ali Nagiyev.

A. Nagiyev noted that the State Security Service also coordinates the activities of the State Commission for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Citizens.

He emphasized that intensive work is currently underway to clarify the fate of 3,890 Azerbaijani citizens registered with the state commission as missing persons as a result of the First Karabakh War, identifying mass grave sites in the territories liberated from occupation, exhumation and identification of remains.

“As a result of the measures taken, the identification of 107 missing persons was ensured, of which the names of 34 people were made public, including the late security officer, National Hero of Azerbaijan Riad Akhmedov, who went missing in January 1992 during Operation Dashalty.” .
