The seventh of October is a black date for Ukraine, because it was on this day that the aggressor president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, was born, who unleashed a bloody war against our state. The Russians created for themselves not just a king, but a real idol. Despite the fact that they don’t really know who exactly is leading them. Putin’s biography, like his family, is carefully hidden from the public. And even in the information that leaks into the public space, there are many blind spots.

However, this topic has been studied by Polish journalist and lawyer Krystyna Kurczab-Redlich for a long time. Based on the results of a decade and a half of her work, she wrote the book “Vova, Volodya, Vladimir. Secrets of Putin’s Russia” (2016).

The website obozrevatel.com has collected the most interesting of her memories of this work.

The adopted child who was not loved

Perhaps the biggest secret in the life of the former Soviet KGB officer is his origin. Kurchab-Redlich claims that the woman who was shown to citizens when Putin came to power is not his biological mother. The real mother of the Kremlin dictator, according to her, lived in Georgia. Her name was Vera Putina, and she died in May of this year at the age of 97.

The journalist said that she managed to meet this woman in the Georgian village of Metekhi near Tbilisi, where she lived, and talk. Vera Nikolaevna told her that while still very young she gave birth to a son from a married man named Platon Privalov. And that this happened not in 1952, as the official biography of the Kremlin dictator claims, but in 1950. But the date is correct – October 7. A year after that, the woman went for an internship from the technical school where she studied to Tashkent, and left her little son with her parents.

It was in Tashkent that Vera met Georgian Georgy Osepashvili and subsequently married him. The couple settled in the village of Metekhi, where the mother later asked to bring her three-year-old son. At first, the boy did not understand what was happening, because he considered his grandmother to be his mother. And here is such a change.

The adoptive father very quickly began to show aggression towards Vladimir. Vera Putin soon gave birth to children together, and his wife’s son began to irritate him greatly, because illegitimate children were considered a disgrace for the family in Georgia. Osepashvili drank and beat his stepson and treated him cruelly, which later, according to the journalist, prompted the guy to sign up for sports. So he started practicing sambo, and then judo. Passion for sports will give Putin friends, with whom he will later create a virtual criminal group that will seize power in Russia and take possession of all its resources.

The adoptive father’s sister also tried to get rid of the burden by giving Vladimir to a military relative in Tbilisi. But for some reason the boy did not take root there, and he was returned to his mother and tyrant stepfather.

According to Kurchab-Redlikh, she was able to communicate with Putin’s childhood friends and they told her that in his youth he was an unhappy person. He was constantly hungry and poorly dressed. And the only activity that made him happy was fishing.

As a result, his stepfather’s hatred of Putin reached such proportions that his mother had to send him back to his grandparents in their hometown of Terekhino in the Urals. The guy was 9 years old at that time. After that, he no longer saw his biological mother.

Soon Vladimir, who was not particularly needed even by his grandparents, was sent away again – handed over to relatives in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). These relatives were Maria and Vladimir Putin, who became his “official” parents.

According to the journalist, the couple had two sons of their own, Albert and Victor. But they both died young: Albert before the war, and Victor during the siege. To console the 42-year-old woman, they simply gave her a distant relative who was left virtually a homeless child. The neighbors did not see her walking around pregnant – a son just appeared in the family one day. This is where the official biography of the Russian President began. By the way, his second stepfather didn’t like him either and raised his hand against him. But already for hooligan antics.

Love for Stalin and the strong hand

According to the journalist, Putin’s new adoptive father was a difficult man. During the war, he served in the NKVD, and before that he fought in Finland – during that war, the USSR captured and annexed Karelia to Russia. However, after the war, Vladimir Spiridonovich’s family still lived poorly, which affected the self-esteem and interests of their adopted son.

However, his stepfather’s influence was enough to provide Putin with new documents. So the adopted child became 2 years younger and went back to first grade at school. It was relatively easy to hide the deception, because the boy was short and thin, so he looked younger than his age.

The new stepfather was an ardent communist, a supporter of Lenin and Stalin. He instilled this love in his stepson. Kurchab-Redlikh claims that Spiridon Putin, the father of Vladimir Putin Sr., served as a cook under Stalin. That is, he clearly had some merits that allowed him to get closer to the dictator and survive during the Red Terror. This probably influenced the opinion of his son, which he, in turn, laid down to Vladimir Jr.

This is how the future president of Russia in those years began to value a strong hand and the ability to adapt, which would subsequently influence his management style and the way he formed his environment. In his youth, Putin respected Stalin so much that he hung his portrait on the wall of the house where he lived even after the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of the USSR. It was there that Nikita Khrushchev proclaimed the beginning of the debunking of the dictator’s personality cult and they began to remove him from everywhere. But not from the mind of the future president of the Russian Federation.

Fear of the truth

Such a childhood contributed to Putin growing up as a sociopath, Kurczab-Redlich believes. Constant moving back and forth, domestic violence, poverty and humiliation robbed him of the main thing – a sense of security, which is key for a person in the first years of his life. A lot of pain and fear in childhood makes a sociopath insensitive to these emotions in the future. Compassion becomes a foreign concept for him, and personal interests become the key driver.

Over time, having built a career, not least thanks to opportunism, Putin reached such heights that provided him with impunity for almost any offense. The only thing he is truly afraid of is the truth. Suffice it to recall his history with his wives, mistresses and children. Putin did not immediately announce his divorce from his first wife Lyudmila; he calls the daughters from this marriage “these women,” and he does not recognize his relationship with Alina Kabaeva and Svetlana Krivonogikh and the children he shares with them.

PUTIN’S DAUGHTERS ARE NAMED EKATERINA TIKHONOVA AND MARIA VORONTSOVA

It is Putin’s fear of the truth that Kurchab-Redlikh explains the death of journalist Artem Borovik, who was one of the first to learn about the biological mother of the then head of the FSB even before his election to the post of President of the Russian Federation in 2000. Influential Chechens showed interest in allowing the truth to surface.

It was the Chechen businessman Ziya Bazhaev who was supposed to take Borovik after his meeting with Vera Putina to Kyiv in March 2000. According to the researcher, they flew on a private plane to obtain convincing evidence that the presidential candidate, Boris Yeltsin’s successor, is a liar who abandoned his own mother for the sake of his career. This should have been a crushing blow to the image of Putin, who quickly increased his political rating with a “successful” military campaign in Chechnya. But on takeoff, a private Yak-40D crashed and fell near the runway. All 5 crew members and 4 passengers died on the spot. The journalist calls them the first victims of the Russian president.

Subsequently, lying became Putin’s key political tool. He lied about everything – about his personal life, about political and military intentions, and rewrote history. But the Russian people, despite the fact that all these lies were very crude and obvious, accepted it. As a result, such a symbiosis between the dictator and his humble people led to the beginning of the bloodiest armed conflict since World War II – Russian aggression in Ukraine.

Kurchab-Redlich notes that all these lies about Putin’s life would have no meaning if the fate of millions of people did not depend on his actions and if those who tried to reveal the truth about him did not pay for it with their lives.

“All this would not be important if the fate of people who died because they wanted to know a lot about his childhood did not depend on this man, if he did not influence the fate of people, countries and the world in general. If this person were a person with a psychology like others… And you answer me everyone who says that this is not true. What did Putin bring to our lives? Did he bring prosperity, order, peace, or did he bring war, poverty, misfortune? And how much blood is on his hands? – the journalist asked.
