Passengers with 5G-enabled gadgets can connect to the pilot network directly or via Wi-Fi. Users of conventional devices and subscribers of any operators – only through Wi-Fi routers at the Kremlevskaya station. “Peak speeds reach 3800 Mbps,” Tele2 stressed.

In March, Vedomosti reported that the State Commission for Radio Frequencies (SCRF) plans to consider allowing Freshtel, a subsidiary of Rostelecom, to test the operation of the 5G network in the Moscow metro, but this communication format has not yet appeared in the Moscow metro. Freshtel also wanted to test 5G in the Kazan metro.

At the end of May, MTS launched the first 5G user pilot network in St. Petersburg ahead of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). The format has become available on the territory of 16 popular venues in the city, including the main SPIEF venue, Expoforum. Megafon has also deployed a 4G and 5G test network in St. Petersburg – at the forum site and on Nevsky Prospekt.

The first pilot 5G user network in Russia was launched by MTS in Moscow, this happened in early March. The format became available to pilot participants in 14 separate districts of the capital.
