King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan is coming to Dhaka on Monday (March 25) for a four-day state visit. He will arrive at Dhaka Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the morning. President Mohammad Sahabuddin will welcome him at the airport.
This is the first visit of any country’s top leader to Bangladesh after the Awami League government came to power for the fourth time in a row last January.
During the visit of the King of Bhutan, three new memorandums of understanding will be signed, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Hasan Mahmud. They are the establishment of a burn and plastic surgery unit in Thimphu, Bhutan, the establishment of a special economic zone for Bhutan in Kurigram, Bangladesh and technical cooperation in consumer protection. Besides, there is an agreement regarding cooperation in the cultural field with us which will be renewed.
In a press conference organized on the visit of the king of Bhutan to Bangladesh on Sunday afternoon, the foreign minister also said that on the first day of the visit, the king of Bhutan will visit the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi number 32 and pay tribute to the memory of the Father of the Nation. He will meet the President and Prime Minister during his visit to Bangladesh.
On the first day of the visit, the Foreign Minister will have a courtesy call on the King of Bhutan at 11:30 on Monday. The King of Bhutan will pay tribute to the martyrs of the Great Liberation War at Savar National Memorial in the early hours of March 26.
