Russian President Vladimir Putin, in an interview with journalist Dmitry Kiselyov for the TV channel “Russia-1”, said that Russia’s nuclear triad is more modern than any triad in any other country.
The Russian President added: “In fact, only we and the Americans have such a trinity. And we have advanced much more here. We have the entire nuclear component, more modern. In general, in the field of nuclear warheads and their means of transport we have almost parity, but our system is more modern. Everyone He knows that, and the specialists know everything.”
The head of state stressed that the United States is developing its nuclear forces, but this does not mean that it is ready to start a nuclear war tomorrow.
He said: “We know that in the United States they are developing all the components of their nuclear triad. We are also doing that.”
President Putin did not rule out that if the United States conducted nuclear tests, Russia would do the same. He mentioned that there is a treaty prohibiting the conduct of tests of this type. He pointed out that the United States had not ratified the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, so Russia withdrew its ratification to maintain parity.
Putin said: “This document did not enter into full legal force, because it did not obtain the required number of ratifications. But nevertheless, we are committed to it.”
The Head of State stressed that there is absolutely no need to use weapons of mass destruction, including tactical nuclear weapons, during a special military operation.
President Putin stressed that Russia is ready to use nuclear weapons, if it is related to the existence of the Russian state, and is related to harming the country’s sovereignty and independence.
