A delegation of 25 Arab men and women from Israel participated today (Thursday) in the March of Life in Poland, and its members sang “More peace will come to us.” The delegation consists of men and women aged 20 to 50 from Nazareth, Yafia, Jaffa, Kasra Samia, Sakhnin and other places.

The delegation is an initiative of the “Together – Arabs for Each Other” organization, which works to bridge gaps between Arabs and Jews and promote partnership in Israeli society. The association said: “We decided to focus on the memory of the Holocaust in Arab society, understanding that there is a gap in education on the subject and that young Arabs do not know in depth the history of our Jewish neighbors and also from a humane and moral place that we must all learn about the Holocaust.”

In addition to the Arab delegation from Israel, a delegation of citizens from Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Syria, Lebanon and Turkey, participated in the parade. ‘Abd al-‘Aziz al-Khamis, a Saudi journalist who participated in the delegation, which already visited Auschwitz yesterday, told News: “We came from inciting and Holocaust-denying companies. They say it’s a conspiracy. “People died of starvation and children gathered with men and women in carriages. We heard evidence – it was scary and horrible.”

The delegation came to the parade at the initiative of the “Shracha” organization, which promotes cooperation between Israel and the Arab and Gulf states. Some of the citizens participating in the event live in their countries, others outside them. Al-Khamis added: “I wondered – why does the Arab world not know more about the Holocaust? It is not just a matter of Jews.”

According to the journalist, the Holocaust has not yet been properly studied and covered in Arab countries and it is time for that to change. He called on people from Arab countries to come and see up close: “My presence here is as natural as a citizen who wants to take part in one of humanity’s most difficult moments. This is a message to all Saudis, Arabs and Muslims – they should come here and see with their own eyes what happened to others – Jews and Christians. “During the Nazi era, so that it does not happen again.”

Al-Khamis added: “We have seen what happened in the Middle East – Syria, Libya, Iraq, murders, ISIS and more. If our companies had reported racism on ethnic grounds, it would not have happened.” The Saudi journalist called the Holocaust deniers “at least accomplices in the crime.” He explained that they were “criminals like those who carried out the Holocaust.”
